I HAVE SET YOU AMONG MY PEOPLE TO BIND THEM TO ME, AND PROVIDED YOU AS A LIGHTHOUSE TO THE NATIONS, TO MAKE A START AT BRINGING PEOPLE INTO THE OPEN, INTO LIGHT: OPENING BLIND EYES, RELEASING PRISONERS FROM DUNGEONS, EMPTYING THE DARK PRISONS. I AM GOD. THAT'S MY NAME. I DON'T FRANCHISE MY GLORY, DON'T ENDORSE THE NO-GOD IDOLS. From Isaiah 42; The Message
Our Ministry

Our Ministry

The mission of Light and Liberty Jail Ministry is to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ to the staff and inmates of correctional facilities.

We fulfill this mission by coordinating religious services and activities.† Services and activities include evangelism and discipleship through Bible studies, correspondence courses and one-on-one lay counseling.† To aid inmates in their spiritual growth we also provide Bibles, Straight Street Daily Bible Reading Plans and the Daily Bread readings.† We introduce the Straight Street Daily Bible Reading Plan, teaching inmates to do disciplined daily Bible study. We deliver other paperback and magazine reading materials, greeting cards, reading glasses and other personal items as resources are available.

Our ministry moves beyond providing evangelism and discipleship for inmates.† We also train those called to be ministry leaders.† We see the necessity of teaching inmates to create indigenous Bible studies and organized fellowships.

In ministry, Godís Word is the active change agent bringing hope, help and life to a hopeless, helpless and lifeless environment. Inmates are often only at the jail for six to eight weeks; three months is an average stay, though there are the few who stay longer.† In this ever-changing environment, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the stabilizing element which brings life change to our jails. Our work is like building sand castles at the ocean. As the waves of constant change wash over our jails, we are called by God to deliver His good news of our Lord Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

We are blessed when we hear that because of relationships formed within the ministry, our outreach extends to state and federal prisons, too.

Light and Liberty Jail Ministry is governed by a board of directors and supported solely by contributions from churches, businesses and individuals.† We receive no local, state or federal funding and are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
